How to get from Athens Airport to Piraeus Harbor
From Athens airport to Piraeus port, you have three modes of transportation to choose from, a public bus, a metro line and the standard taxis. Taking a taxi is the fastest and most convenient transfer option, but costs 54-70€. A cheaper option is the bus, which costs only 5€, but takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. The final transfer option is the metro. This mode of transport costs 10€ one-way and takes around1 hour 20 minutes minutes to reach Piraeus port. (Detailed, up to date information on each of these options can be found by following the link above).
1C. Piraeus to Spetses Ferry
There are 2 hydrofoil companies Hellenic Seaways and Euroseas-Eurofast-1.
Piraeus Spetses sailing durations and frequency may vary from season to season so we would advise doing a live check to get the most up to date information. Travel times vary depending on the mode of transport and number of stops but can take anything from 2 - 3 hours.
1D. Get from Spetses Harbor to Spetses Hotel
Upon arrival at Spetses harbor, you have several options to get to the hotel.
(i) The easiest would be to take a walk along the shoreline (northwestbound, approx. 1.2 km) - a pleasant 15 min of getting to know that area of the island.
(ii) A water taxi (departing in Spetses harbor) will bring you to Spetses Hotel in about 3 min.
(iii) A cab would take about 5 min (and approx. 8-10 EUR), as would
(iv) a horse buggy.
(v) There is also a bus going toward Spetses Hotel (ca. 1 EUR), leaving in front of the Possidonion Hotel (the building complex you see to the right of Spetses Harbour as you look at it from the sea).
2. Quicker, but more expensive
The easiest way to get to Spetses is to take a taxi directly from the airport to the town of Kosta (just opposite the island of Spetses). Remember to fix the price before you start the trip. Tell the taxi driver that you are going to Spetses and he will take you straight to the pier of the water taxis that go straight to the Spetses Hotel.
